The Western New Mexico University Mustangs had the lead much of the first and second half but saw their momentum shift to their opponent with half of the second left to play and could not get it back.  Adams State College defeated WNMU, 83-77.  The WNMU men are now 8-9 overall and 4-5 in conference play.  Adams State improves to 12-5 overall and 6-3 in the RMAC.

Both teams were on fire in the first 20 minutes of play.  WNMU sank 53.5% of their shots; whereas, the Grizzlies shot an impressive 57.7%.  But the Mustangs had the 43-35 lead going into halftime thanks to hot shooting by JJ Galberth (El Paso, TX/Parkland High School) (El Paso, TX).  Galberth hit 4-of-6 shots from the floor in his 14 minutes of play in the first half.  He finished the game with 13 points.

The Mustangs had a nice seven-point cushion with 13:49 to play in the game, but a costly WNMU technical foul after a Galberth dunk shifted the momentum over to the Grizzlies.  The Grizzlies then went on a 16-3 run over the next six minutes to take and keep the lead the remainder of the game.

Leading the way for the Mustangs was senior Trey Clarkson (Tucson, AZ/Sal Pointe High School) (Tucson, AZ).  Clarkson also dished out three assists.  Sophomore DJ Nicholas (Glendale, AZ/Glendale High School) (Glendale, AZ) came off the bench and posted 14 points and a team-high six rebounds.

Adam State's Travis Carr finished with a game high 24 points.  He hit 7-of-11 from the floor.  Six of those field goals came from downtown.  Carr was followed by Rece Hampton and Marcus Martensen who both tallied 14 points.
